Welcome back to Team Insights, where we offer you a chance to get to know a Microbiome Insights team member on a deeper level. For our 10th issue (and the first issue of 2022), we present to you Ben Amuwo, a core and valuable member of our Sales Team.
Hey Ben, thank you for taking the time to answer these questions. It must be an interesting feeling being the interviewee after holding the role of interviewer for so long.
When did you start working at Microbiome Insights?
A: I started working at MBI in September of 2020.
What interests you most about the area of the microbiome?
A: For me the microbiome represents a combination of biology, ecology, genetics and chemistry on an infinitesimal scale. Despite being so small, microbiomes play a vast role in modulating community environments. The most interesting thing to me is the pursuit of expanding our knowledge on microbiomes.
What do you do at Microbiome Insights? Describe your role?
A: My main role involves sales and project management. I also take on some marketing and resource creation tasks.
What do you enjoy most about Microbiome Insights so far?
A: Absolutely the people I work with, they're intelligent, driven and it's a pleasure to be part of a team with them.
How have you made the most of your time working from home?
A: I've made the most of my time by building an optimal work-life balance. I've also listened to a lot of podcasts!
That's interesting, what's a podcast you'd recommend?
A: The Rich Roll podcast has some great episodes on psychology, sociology and motivation!
What do you like to do in your free time?
A: I enjoy reading, music and fitness.
What's a book you'd recommend currently?
A: Dopamine Nation for non-fiction, and the Foundation series for fiction.
What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?
A: I can guess the plot twists of most movies before the first act ends.
If you could get a new skill in 10 minutes, what would it be?
A: I'd learn a completely foreign language like Korean
What’s your favorite music genre?
A: I used to DJ before the pandemic hit, so I'm a fan of almost every genre from metal to rap to country.
Where do you want to travel to most post-pandemic?
A: Japan, I was supposed to go in the summer of my graduation and we had to cancel it due to the pandemic. It would be nice to get the chance to go again.
Thank you again, Ben, for your time. It's quite interesting to see how varied your interests are, and it's a pleasure to get to know you better.
