Hello Seanon, it's a pleasure having you on the team - and also getting to talk to you a bit more here. Let's get right into it:
What do you do at Microbiome Insights? Describe your role?
A: I am part of the sales team where I act as a point of contact for clients and potential clients to discuss their microbiome-focused studies, including our services and advice on study design and sample collection. I work closely with the laboratory and bioinformatics team to ensure a smooth-running process. I also enjoy the role I play as part of the marketing team.
What interests you most about the area of the microbiome?
A: I find it so interesting that our human microbiomes are forever changing in response to various factors. As a foodie, I love reading studies about the role diet plays in the microbiome. I love the sense of excitement in the microbiome space as a relatively new research area.
What were you doing before your time at Microbiome Insights?
A: I was finishing an online MSc in pharmaceutical business & technology. Beforehand I had also spent a few months backpacking around Thailand, parts of Europe and the last hoorah; Mexico.
What do you enjoy most about Microbiome Insights?
A: The team! There's a great team spirit where everyone is always super happy to help with full support.
What are your passions outside of work?
A: Drawing, painting, cooking, and hiking.
You just recently moved to Vancouver. What's one thing you've enjoyed so far and one thing you're looking forward to about living here?
A: So far I love being able to cycle around so easily but one thing I'm really looking forward to getting to explore the local mountains and hikes some more!
What’s a skill that not many people know you have?
A: I'm can birdcall to the tune of nursery rhymes.
What is a book you think everyone should read if they can?
A: "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne
If you could get a new skill in 10 minutes, what would it be?
A: Be able to speak every language.. or one more language (not to be greedy!)
What languages do you speak?
A: I speak english, Irish (Gaeilge), and un petit peu de francais!
What’s your favorite music genre?
A: Pop/rock.. just don't ask me to sing or dance to it!
